GETTING THERE
Air, sea or land - these are the three basic ways to get to, and around Alaska. Most fly into the The Land of the Midnight Sun, others come by cruise line or state ferry ( Alaska Marine Highway System ), some by rail, and a few arrive by highway.
Accessible only by air and sea, Sitka Airport provides a daily service by Alaska Airlines from major destinations in Alaska and the US like Anchorage and Seattle.
Sitka is part of the Southeast, Inside Passage routing of the Alaska Marine Highway ferry system from Bellingham in Washington State, USA. The route includes Ketchikan, Wrangell, Petersburg, Juneau, Skagway and Haines, with connections to Hoonah, Pelican, Tenakee Springs, Angoon, Kake, Hollis and Metlakatla. Walk-on reservations are almost never needed for the Alaska Marine Highway, but those requiring a private cabin or needing to book a vehicle should call ahead of time.
Sitka is also a popular port of call for most cruiselines that sail the Inside Passage.
