GETTING THERE
Air, sea or land - these are the three basic ways to get to, and around Alaska. Most fly into the The Land of the Midnight Sun, others come by cruise line or state ferry ( Alaska Marine Highway System ), some by rail, and a few arrive by highway.
With connections to Anchorage as well as Karluk, Old Harbor, Ouzinkie and Port harbor, Kodiak Airport on Kodiak Island is just four miles southwest of Kodiak.
Kodiak is part of the Southwest Alaska and Aleutian Islands routing of the Alaska Marine Highway ferry system. The route includes Ouzinkie, Port Lions, Chignik, Sand Point, King Cove, Cold Bay, False Pass, Akutan and Unalaska. Walk-on reservations are almost never needed for the Alaska Marine Highway, but those requiring a private cabin or needing to book avehicle should call ahead of time.
